I can honestly say (are you reading this Christine!) that it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.
The injections to start with were a bit painful but if I could handle it, being the big softy that I am, then I'm certain anyone else could easily. The rest of the procedure was fine, I felt absolutely nothing! The drilling made my eyes wibble around in my head which isn't the greatest feeling, and of course the noise is pretty horrible but it's all over so quickly. I was so glad :)
Actually, something extremely funny/embarrassing happened in the middle of the procedure. My dentist had put in the filling stuff and was getting ready to stuff it in as far as she could, to stabilise my tooth while she did this there was a weird metal loop thing put around my tooth. As she was slipping it on she mumbled something which sounded, to me, my sister and the nurse, like "I'm just going to pull your tooth out".
Well, as you can imagine, horrific images of my tooth being yanked out and blood spurting everywhere immediately popped into my head, my fight or flight mechanism kicked in as I coiled up my body ready to bolt, started to get very hot, flustered and almost started crying and out of my mouth came the most ungraceful, muffled "WHAT!?" bearing in mind this all happened within a split second. The dentist looked a little bit taken aback and repeated "I'm just going to pull your cheek out". I think I heard my sister and the nurse breathe a sigh of relief along with me.
I apologised profusely when the appointment was over, I felt so rude for blurting out my response.
