NOTW: Gradient Nails

Hey darlings! This week I decided to try out the trend of gradient nails that's been floating around the blogosphere recently and I'm glad I did! I had a lot of fun doing these and they are so simple anyone can try them!

I decided to stray from the usual of going with different tones of the same colour and chose to use pink and blue for mine. I first painted a base coat using white. I grabbed a sponge from the kitchen cupboard, painted on a few strokes of the two colours and got dabbing!

I really love how it's turned out (the colours are much more subtle and graining in real life) especially where the pink and blue have merged to make a lovely purple colour in the middle. I used Rimmel Lycra Pro Professional Finish in 297 Show Off and a brand called La Femme Beauty in Ultrablue, which is a sort of pearlised colour. I can't wait to try this with other colours! It kind reminds me of tie-dye, which is perfect for summer :)

Have you tried the ombre nails trend? ♥

    1. Thank you! I will have a look but I'm terrified to try leopard print because that patterns so fiddly! Might have to cheat and use a stamping kit ;) xxx

    1. Oh no! Such a shame about the weather. I always forget the seasons are different. It's like Tortola where I'm going next week has no seasons really - just hurricane and non-hurricane season! Haha! I love wearing bright colours when the weather is miserable! xxx

  10. So cool! But I'm confused... How did you do it with a sponge? I'm obviously being an idiot. They look lush though!

  13. Sorry to be "that guy" but this isn't an ombre manicure! This is a gradient, ombre is totally different. I hate being so picky but it's just how I am! The Swatchaholic just did a post on this a couple of days ago, Jeanette is more of a stickler for it than I am. Her nails are AMAZING and for this post she did cartoon versions of her normal manicures, it's here http://the-swatchaholic.com/?p=5909

LOVE the gradient though. I really have yet to master this. I've tried so many times but I can't get it! I have the colours I want to use and everything! Your colours look amazing together, I might have to try a clashing combo too! xx

    1. There we go, changed the name. I've seen these about named various things. Either way I love them and just wanted to give it a go! :) Thanks for letting me know and recommending The Swatchaholic, that site is great!

Thanks so much - this is actually the only nail art trend that I've actually be able to do in one go without wanting to throw and/or break things!! :D xxx

    2. I'm so glad you like the Swatchaholic, I love her site! And she's so good with replying to tweets etc so she's lovely! The only bad thing is that I thought reading a European blog (she's German) would mean there would be less chance of me being upset, seeing as I read so many US ones and can't get hold of the polishes, but she has some AMAZING European brands that I can't get my hands on!
