BVI Humane Society Annual Dog Show

Hello my dears! Hope you're all well! On Saturday I volunteered to help at the annual dog show, luckily it began right after swimming and was being held nearby, so I rushed over from Nanny Cay pool at 11am to offer my help wherever it was needed. Friday night I baked a few cakes to contribute to the cake stall, I only used a boxed cake mix and was in a bit of a rush, so they aren't too exciting...

I actually ended up being asked to look after the baked goods stall in the end too - all the proceeds from the stall went towards the Humane Society and lots of local people and bakeries donated yummy goodies. The girl I was manning the stall with was also English and had baked an amazing selection of flapjacks. The majority of Americans have never heard of flapjacks before and they went down very well with all of our customers!

How cute is this little guy! He was nomming on some icing that had dripped off one of the doughnuts!
This little cutie is one of the kids I teach swimming to, he wanted to see what was in the big cake boxes :)
What did you get up to over the weekend? ♥

  3. Aw now we love you even more! So happy you care and want to help the animals.

We do a lot of shows to help No-Kill Animal sanctuaries. They are the greatest.
We are so sad as one of the great ones is closing not because of money but age of the owners. After many years of taking in dogs, cats, peacocks, goats, pigs, geckos, parrots, iguanas, rabbits, chickens, doves, parakeets...Happy Tails Animal Sanctuary is closing. We are so sad....but as Susan said they are old now and need to be taken care of.....time has come to let other groups carry the torch.
Great post and very interesting with beautiful pictures.
    Love, Joann xxxx

    1. Thank you so much! I am a HUGE animal lover. If I had my own house here I'd take home half the animals at the shelter. In fact, I already know that when I move here Tony is going to have a hard job stopping me from bringing them all home with me :D It's a similar thing happening with our humane society. The person who looks after everything just got diagnosed with lung cancer and she's struggling to take care of it all by herself. That's why I'm trying to help out as much as I can :) xxxx

    1. It was a very fun weekend - but also exhausting. The sun knocks the life out of you twice as quickly when you're running around outside all weekend! I slept for a very long time after that weekend! xxx
