Hello, September!

Goodness me, where do I even start...
So really, September for me is all about a new start. I'm all moved back into my flat, I've got a trial night at a bar on Friday, I've cut my hair, Freshers week begins on Monday and then it's all kicking off.

I don't know if it was just the transition into my final year that made it happen but I feel like I've suddenly woken up from a bit of a daydream. I kind of realised that over the last few years I've never really taken any time to do anything for myself. My life has been all about other people - what they'd want, what they'd think, how they'd feel, but never about what I want, what I think and how I feel.

I guess, in a way, this is a really personal time for me right now, but I'm feeling okay about it all and I definitely want to share my adventures with all of you! I've decided to take control of my own life, rather than letting others control it for me - and that's happening in so many ways right now (some good, some bad), a lot of which will be explained along the way....

* I've got myself a trial night at the local club which is an amazing start. I'm not very good at interviews and I got completely lucky with this job offer coming completely unexpectedly when propping up said bar with friends! I'm so excited to get stuck in!

* I went to the hairdresser for a trim yesterday and ended up getting a pretty drastic cut. Going from never having dyed (apart from the dip-dye fiasco over summer) or done anything remotely interesting with my hair my whole life, to suddenly chopping at it here, there and everywhere, was a biiiiig thing for me. I was panicking the entire time! But I can safely say that I LOVE it! I will post photos soon, in the meantime though if you'd like a sneak peek you can have a nosey over on my Facebook page.

* I booked myself in for a complete blog redesign with the amazing Gillian of ElevatorMusik - and I am so excited to get stuck into fixing that all up! I have decided that since even my blog design currently reflects large parts of other people and is definitely not all me... I'm having a serious overhaul, including a new name! Island Girl Insights is soon to be Just Rach - I hope you like it?! I'll be getting a custom domain soon to match too!

You can expect lots of familiar posts this month, including the new Friday Find and Wednesday Want features, lots more Like, Love, Loathe linkup posts, another monthly blog hop (13th Sept!) & Purse Friendly 'Tips' post from Fay, news about the bi-annual blog swap and more! Also, you can expect lots of exiting new things to including a fab group sponsor giveaway, a bunch of fab guest posts, some hauls and who knows what else September will bring!

If you'd like to support me and my new baby Just Rach, feel free to have a look at the ways you can sponsor! You get some wicked perks! ♥

What are you looking forward to this month?

  4. Hi Rachael,

A interesting post. I'm not sure I can relate to your 'new start' or 'reinventing' yourself but maybe I will as over time you explain more.
I'm kind of sad your long beautiful hair is gone....but change is good.
Wishing you good luck with your new outlook on life.Hug!

    1. Hi Joann! Thanks for the comment - I've got used to my hair now and it's definitely getting longer again. I miss the length a lot so I'm trying to grow it back, but I am loving the bangs I have :D xxx
